My Experience With Windows 7

I have been using Windows XP for almost four years. So far, i have been very satisfied with its performance and I could not ask for any better Windows Operating System. But then, a major change suddenly happened in our office - our procurement department updated our newly issued computers to Windows 7.

This is a major change for me because I have been very used to Windows XP and I think I am not ready for this change. But change is inevitable, so I had to adjust myself to the newest operating system created by Microsoft.

Here are some of my observations with the Windows 7.

1. Its user-interface is slightly different with Windows XP. Because of this change, I have to familiarize myself with how do I navigate it.

2. It is not compatible with most CRT monitors. Although CRT monitors are slowly  being replaced by LCDs, I still have a lot of those in our office. But to my surprise, I was not able to adjust the screen resolution of the CRT Monitor. Because of this, I had to reduce the screen resolution to 640 x 480 in order to continue using my CRT monitor.

3. Windows 7 is fast. I don't know what is the reason for the fast performance of this new operating system. Is it the OS itself, or is it because of the computer? Whatever the reason is, I love the processing speed of the new Windows 7.

4.  Files are easier to find with Windows 7. When you have opened a specific folder, you can immediately find the files by typing even the first three letters.

It is really very difficult to adjust with new changes. I just hope that Windows 7 will live up to expectations and do better than the previous Microsoft Operating Systems.

How to Get an NBI Clearance

An NBI clearance is a very important document for people who intend to get a job and for those who plan to go abroad. An NBI clearance certifies that an individual is not involved in any illegal activity in thePhilippines. From this we can say that an NBI clearance certifies that a person is a law-abiding citizen of a country.

There are a lot of NBI offices where you can apply for a new NBI clearance or renewal if you already have an existing one. Here's a flowchart from the NBI website which describes how to get a clearance.

Here are the fees charged by NBI depending on the purpose of the clearance

When applying for a new NBI clearance, the documentary requirements are two (2) valid IDs. IDs accepted by NBI includes the following

2012 As explained with Humor

We have been experiencing a lot of disasters nowadays. Typhoons and earthquakes seems to be happening more regularly. The earthquakes at New Zealand and Japan are good examples that natural catastrophes have been increasing lately and a lot of lives are taken due to this acts of God.

I can't help but think that the end of days may be nearing but I still hope that God would let us live longer.

The movie 2012 has been an instant hit because it has a clear explanation about natural disasters. Many people watched this movie and a lot of them were convinced that the end of days may be nearing. We can't change their opinions but hey, it is just a film!

This is one of my favorite part of the film 2012. In this movie clip, natural disasters are explained with humor.

Enjoy!

Why Donate with UNICEF?

UNICEF has been around for years. They are composed of people and organizations whose main goal is to provide better quality of life for the less fortunates. The focus of UNICEF can be summarized as follows:

1. Child Survival and Development - UNICEF is involved with activities that aim to improve nutrition and health children.

2. Basic Education and Gender Quality - UNICEF believes that every child has a right to education. They are currently involved in dispatching volunteers to teach and educate children.

3. Child Protection - children should live their early years by playing, schooling, and interacting with fellow children. But due to poverty especially in third world countries, child labor and prostitution is rampant. UNICEF aims to protect this children by making tie ups with the government to protect their welfare.

4. HIV Aids and Children - there are children who unknowingly acquires AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) because they inherit this disease from their parents. UNICEF also takes part in this by helping children cope up and survive this dreaded disease.

5. Policy Advocacy and Partnership - UNICEF has been continuing to expand their network by seeking the help of various organizations who they can count on to fund their poverty alleviation projects.

Donating with UNICEF is better than giving alms to street children. With UNICEF, you can be sure that your money will go directly to the children in need.

Everyone has to say goodbye

Today, I attended the burial of one of my close relative. Just like other farewells, this one was no different - it is full of tears. The passing of a loved one, is an event in ones life that needs to be remembered but also hard to accept. This is why before the remains of a loved one is finally placed into his grave, a last glimpse, a last moment to remember his life, is given to his family.

It is really hard to say goodbye. Jesus himself felt this when he was eating the last supper with his disciples.

When the Jesus was talking with his disciples, he was talking of things that they cannot comprehend. They do not understand why he seems to be giving his last words, his will and commandments.

But just as some ends are beginnings of something better, the eventual death of Jesus led to the salvation of mankind. His death was not in vain, his death lead to something much much better.

For the people left behind by one who just passed away, we offer condolences and shoulders to cry on. Our hugs and kisses could somehow compensate for the pain caused by his death. As Jesus said on his last supper, "love one another".
